Supported through donations, The Women's Center is a counseling, education and information resource that provides psychological, career, financial and legal services to women and families regardless of ability to pay.
Why do we exist?
The mission of The Women’s Center is to provide immediate and affordable counseling, education and support to women, men, youth and families, regardless of ability to pay. Since 1974, the Center has continued to accommodate the changing needs and diverse demographics of the region. In addition to serving clients whose health insurance covers fees for service, the Center also provides services for those who cannot afford to pay even a nominal amount. Increasingly, clients are drawn from low-income and immigrant communities.
What have you accomplished?
In 2000, the Center responded to 86,000 requests for service and provided over 36,000 hours of direct client service, including individual and group counseling, psychological assessments, career mentoring and mediation. The Center helps anyone in need, from a young mother reentering the workforce after a difficult divorce, to a teen mother overwhelmed by a lack of money, education and resources.
