At its newly renovated animal rehabilitation facility and medical center, WARL adopts hundreds of homeless animals, provides free spay and neutering and affordable veterinary care for the low-income community.
How do you help people in my community?
We are the only low-cost, full service, veterinary hospital providing services to the low-income community in the Mid-Atlantic. In our adoptive services, we make every effort to insure that each animal is placed in a loving home. See the Adoption page and Medical Center page of our website at www.warl.org .
Why do you need my support?
We receive no state, federal or local funding. We depend entirely on private contributions from individuals, corporations and foundations. Your donations assist in providing food, shelter and adoption services to 1,000 animals a year. Your kindness insures that over 4000 animal patients receive much-needed medical attention and are all spayed or neutered at no charge. Your contribution will assist in the reduction of animal overpopulation and its ensuing miseries.
We also need your assistance in placing animals in good, safe homes. Please visit our website at www.warl.org to see many of our animals. We also encourage you to visit our clean, modern shelter. Perhaps someone you know, or you, can take an animal home to a loving family.
How can I be sure that you will use my money wisely and won't waste it?
For 90 years, the League has committed it’s resources to quality care for animals. 81 cents of every dollar we spend goes directly to programs. Our entire staff from top to bottom and even our board members are involved with serving the animals. Please visit our shelter at 71 Oglethorpe Street, NW and see our efforts and your dollars at work. Or visit our new website for views of our cleam, modern, state-of-the-art facilities at www.warl.org.
Can I Volunteer? How?
Yes! We need volunteers to walk the dogs and socialize the cats. We also need volunteers to take the animals to adoption fairs on weekends. Please e-mail volunteer@warl.org for additional information and times for volunteer orientation sessions. Or visit our website at www.warl.org and print out the volunteer form!
You can also use our website, www.warl.org to e-mail us with any other questions.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN THE LEAGUE.
