Operation Blessing International

Dedicated to alleviating human need and suffering throughout America and around the world through hunger relief, medical care, outreach programs and disaster relief since 1978.

Why do we exist?

Operation Blessing International Relief and Development Corporation (OBI) is a non-profit 501 (c) (3) humanitarian organization with a mission to demonstrate God’s love by alleviating human need and suffering in the United States and around the world.

Beginning in 1978 and headquartered in Virginia, OBI has touched the lives of more than 202.7 million people in 105 countries and all 50 states, providing goods and services valued at more than $1.4 billion.

Operation Blessing takes a “Swiss Army knife” approach and responds strategically by providing hunger relief, disaster relief, medical aid, clean water, orphan care, educational assistance and microenterprise opportunities to those in need in the U.S. and around the world.

What have you accomplished?

OBI provides relief in real time by acting as a first responder in numerous disasters. In the last 12 months, our donors’ support has helped supply emergency aid to victims of catastrophic flooding in China, India and Pakistan; Peru’s 8.0-magnitude earthquake; Category 5 Hurricane Dean in Mexico; Hurricane Felix in Central America; as well as continued to provide ongoing free medical care for Hurricane Katrina survivors.

Here’s one example of how Operation Blessing strategically meets the needs in a community after a disaster hits.  Meet Robert, a New Orleans resident, whose blood sugar level was at a dangerously high 345 when he came to Operation Blessing’s medical clinic, which has served more than 28,000 patients in New Orleans since Katrina hit. Normal range for him is 150.

“I was trying to find my old doctor but her place had damage.” Robert said. “Then I went to a clinic near Tulane (hospital) but they told me I would have to come back the next day. So I heard there was another clinic in the east.”

Robert was treated at OBI’s clinic and left with a supply of free insulin.

“I got everything I need now.” Robert said.

How do you help people in my community? Why do you need my support?
How can I be sure that you will use my money wisely and won't waste it? Can I Volunteer? How?
