Military Officers Association of America Scholarship Fund - American Patriot Scholarship

Provides undergraduate education grants to children of military members -- officer and enlisted (Active, Guard or Reserve) -- who died while in active service to our Nation.

Why do we exist?

The MOAA Scholarship Fund was established in 1948 to help military families—officer and enlisted—defray the high cost of a college education for their children. The original members of the MOAA Board of Directors firmly believed that education was a cornerstone of a strong democracy.  This intrinsic value is still a part of the MOAA philosophy.   Shortly after the tragic events of September 11, 2001, the MOAA Board of Directors created the American Patriot Scholarship to specifically help students whose military parent died while in active service, whether on Active Duty, in the Reserves, or as a National Guard member, serving in any branch of the Uniformed Services.

What have you accomplished?

Over the past 60 years, the MOAA Scholarship Fund has provided interest-free loans and grants to more than 10,000 students from military families.  Our students tell us that, because of our interest-free loan or grant, they are able to excel in their studies, volunteer in community and campus organizations, and participate in internships and other extra-curricular learning activities.    Our students show great responsibility and commitment by paying back their interest-free loans.  Our default rate is less than .1 percent!  Since 2001, the American Patriot Scholarship has provided over $629,000 in grants to more than 150 children whose military parent died in active service to our Nation. Our scholarships make a difference.

How do you help people in my community? Why do you need my support?
How can I be sure that you will use my money wisely and won't waste it? Can I Volunteer? How?
