Feed The Children provides food, medicine, clothing, educational materials and other essentials to children and their families domestically and internationally.
Why do we exist?
Larry and Frances Jones founded Feed The Children in 1979 after a life-changing trip to Haiti. An ordained minister, Jones was visiting churches in Haiti and saw the tremendous suffering of the children. He had just read an article about surplus grain being dumped by American farmers and soon after returning to the United States, he raised enough money to pay for the shipment of surplus wheat to Haiti. Over the years a small relief project started by Larry and Frances has grown into one of the largest private organizations to feed hungry people across the U.S. and internationally.
What have you accomplished?
During our 29-year history, Feed The Children has grown into one of the world's largest private organizations dedicated to helping hungry and hurting people. In FY 2007, Feed The Children distributed more than 135 million pounds of food and other essentials to children and their families in all 50 states and internationally, supplementing almost 800,000 meals each day. Since our founding in 1979, Feed The Children has reached out to help children and families in 118 countries around the globe.
