Homeless Children (Foundation for His Ministry)

We rescue abandoned infants, children and disabled from garbage dumps, streets and prisons of Mexico, providing food, loving homes, daycare, Christian education, vocational training, medical care for over 40 years.

How do you help people in my community?

We have over 10,000 visitors and volunteers at our Missions each year, who come for a week, and are changed for life.  These are typically church or community service groups who want to serve in a meaningful way.  For many, this is the first kind of outreach they have been involved in.  They are able to participate in routine ongoing needed services at the Missions, as well as participate in outreach in the local communities.  This provides for them a valuable training ground for becoming a volunteer in their own home communities.

Many of our donors are retired individuals who find opportunities to serve His Ministry in ways that give meaning to their lives.  Some, either individually or as part of a group, send handmade afghans and quilts; others conduct fund-raising activities to send needed items such as shoes, socks and underwear that are given to the poor.

Still others meet regularly to pray and intercede for His Ministry, something highly valued by those serving in Mexico. In California, our monthly newsletter is taped, labeled and mailed by 30-50 retired volunteers each month; this gives them purpose, and blesses us immensely.

Why do you need my support?

The average amount of monetary donations received by this organization is $25.00.  This means that we receive many donations of lesser amounts.  We are intensely aware of the great value of these small gifts, as God has faithfully supplied all our needs for over 40 years by using the widow’s might, and multiplying it over and over.  We consider every donation, no matter how small, as an answer to prayer, and we are very grateful.

His Ministry is somewhat unique in that we faithfully apply donations as designated by the donor. If you designate your gift for shoes, it will be used to purchase shoes. If a specific project is over-funded, we will either return the funds or transfer them to a related fund.

In Baja, we have recently established a school on grounds for K-6 grades. The education of our children is of high priority.  The Bible Institute in a new growth phase as well, and there are plans to build a new wing to accommodate more students.  Some of these students will return to their roots, to mountain villages in Oaxaca – bringing medicine, literacy and hope to the impoverished there. The Mission in Oaxaca is our newest outreach and still under construction.  We hope to expand our capability to house more children, build a school, and provide more community outreach like the prison ministry and medical clinics to the mountains.

The Board of Directors is continually and prayerfully in consideration of the “next” phase for His Ministry, desiring to touch the lives of the poorest of the poor in Mexico.

How can I be sure that you will use my money wisely and won't waste it?

Our financial pledge also means we never try to raise more money than is needed and we have committed to remain in a debt-free status.  Our administrative ratio is consistently 4% or lower, which means we maintain minimal administrative costs, and most of the funds donated go directly to programs and projects to feed and clothe the poor.

Can I Volunteer? How?

We have over 10,000 visitors and volunteers at our Missions each year, who come for a week, and are changed for life.  We request that all visitors and volunteers register before visiting.  Our website http://www.ffhm.org/ href="http://www.ffhm.org/">www.ffhm.org provides registration and application forms, or you can contact our office by email at title=blocked::mailto:info@ffhm.org href="mailto:info@ffhm.org">info@ffhm.org, or by calling 949-492-2200.  We have limited space, and we are often booked up to a year in advance in Baja, but the other Missions may have room for a visiting group, so please contact us.

If you live in Southern Orange County California, we would welcome your help with the mailing of our monthly newsletter. Contact our office for more information 949.492.2200.
