Catholic Legal Immigration Network, Inc. (CLINIC)

CLINIC helps low-income newcomers -- including elderly, children, the detained and abused -- with family immigration, legal services and citizenship. CLINIC brings new American families together to strengthen our future.

How do you help people in my community?

Catholic Legal Immigration Network, Inc. (CLINIC) supports local, community-based immigration programs. CLINIC advocates for fair and generous immigration policies that express the Catholic Church’s commitment to the full inclusion of immigrants in our nation’s life. CLINIC and its member agencies serve the most vulnerable migrants, such as refugees, asylum- seekers, detainees, families in need of reunification, laborers abused in the workplace, victims of domestic violence and survivors of human trafficking—regardless of race, religion, gender, ethnic group or other distinguishing characteristic.

CLINIC’s network originally comprised 17 programs. It has since increased to 161 programs in 262 office locations. Apart from providing training and technical assistance to member agencies, CLINIC staffs and administers a variety of direct service programs that serve vulnerable immigrants, including refugees, asylum seekers, detainees, families in need of reunification, laborers abused in the workplace, victims of domestic violence and survivors of human trafficking.

Why do you need my support?

We recognize that we have significant work ahead in the public policy realm, starting at the level of vision and values.  Almost every week one of us is speaking to a large group on why the Catholic Church does the work and takes the positions it does on immigration.  At the same time, we continue to expand and improve the work of those agencies who directly serve poor and vulnerable immigrants.   This work informs our advocacy and convinces us of the continued need for reform.  In many circles, legal work for immigrants could not be more unpopular.  Yet in our view it has never been more important.  This is why we so greatly value your generous support.

How can I be sure that you will use my money wisely and won't waste it?

CLINIC’s viability depends on the active engagement of its board of directors in governance, resource development and financial oversight. CLINIC contracts an independent accounting firm to conduct its annual audit. Copy of this report is available on CLINIC’s website at www.cliniclegal.org
