Birth Defect Research for Children, Inc.

Over 150,000 children are born each year with major birth defects.  Why?  Our Birth Defect Registry provides essential information to parents, researchers, advocates of toxic clean-up.  We support families struggling with birth defects.

How do you help people in my community?

If you have a child with a birth defects or developmental disability, we will give you medically accurate, but easily read information about your child’s conditions as well as referrals to support groups and helpful resources.  We will also help you connect with other families who have children with the same birth defects as your child through our Parent Matching Project.  If you believe that your community has too many children with similar birth defects, we will help you gather the data to investigate the possible causes of this cluster of birth defects.

Why do you need my support?

Birth Defect Research for Children receives the majority of the funding for our services from individual donors like you.  Our National Birth Defect Registry is a publically funded research data base. Since this independent registry is not supported by government grants, we rely on public support.

How can I be sure that you will use my money wisely and won't waste it?

Birth Defect Research for Children has an annual audit of our financial and operating procedures to insure that donations are used only for the stated purposes of our mission.

Can I Volunteer? How?

Yes, send an email to staff@birthdefects.org and tell us what kind of volunteer opportunity you would enjoy.  Some options are local fundraising, help in promoting BDRC in the Combined Federal Campaign fairs, distributing BDRC brochures to health facilities in your community, etc.
