American Institute for Cancer Research

Funding innovative cancer research and education to expand understanding of nutrition and cancer prevention, treatment and survivorship. CFC contributions used 100% for research and health education. Call us at 800-843-8114.

How do you help people in my community?

Through our far-reaching educational programs, the Institute has a direct link into every community in the country. Knowledge is most valuable when it translates into action.  AICR devotes large amounts of time and resources to educating people about cancer prevention, treatment and survivorship.  Here are just some of our free programs:

AICR Newsletter: free quarterly newsletter with 12 pages of research news, health tips, meal planning ideas and recipes mailed to 1.5 million homes
Cancer Resource: free information and resources designed for newly diagnosed cancer patients and their families

Free Brochures: wide range of educational booklets presenting information on diet, nutrition and cancer in non-technical language.

Educational Seminars: free public seminars on a healthy diet to prevent chronic disease offered in 132 cities across the country

Nutrition Hotline: national toll-free number (800-843-8114) and online resource (www.aicr.org/hotline) through which members of the public get personal advice on nutrition from experts.

Good-news-letter: children’s newsletter with stories, cartoons and games to teach kids about healthy eating.

Health Professionals program: updates, newsletter, and presentations for health professionals and educators to use with patients.

Media Program:  weekly feature columns, press releases and TV PSA spots to help get the word out on diet and cancer prevention, and to initiate media coverage of diet and cancer issues.

www.aicr.org:  our comprehensive web site presenting easy-to-grasp information on diet and health choices that reduce cancer risk

Why do you need my support?

As government funding for cancer research programs is reduced, the need for the kind of research funded by the Institute continues to grow; and with a multitude of conflicting stories about dietary health and chronic disease in the media, our clear, science-based educational programs are more important than ever.

The American Institute for Cancer Research is an independent non-profit organization and relies on public support for its funding.  The Institute receives no direct federal funding and has not received large-scale funding from corporate interests.

Your support is needed to help us continue to foster the research and spread our essential message: people can take steps to prevent cancer.

How can I be sure that you will use my money wisely and won’t waste it?

AICR pledges to use 100% of its CFC contributions to fund research and education programs.  For those donors wishing further information, the Institute will gladly provide our Annual Report upon request.

Can I Volunteer? How?

Individuals can volunteer to help AICR spread the word and raise money for cancer research by conducting a variety of local special events.  Please call 800-843-8114 or email at events@aicr.org for information and resources to help you plan and implement your own event.
