The Beacon House Association of San Pedro

The Beacon House helps men to recover from alcoholism and addiction. We help men find a new life in sobriety and service to the community.

How do you help people in my community?

Alcoholism and addiction know no boundaries. It affects everyone no matter what economic, social, ethnic or geographic circumstances one comes from. Our program helps the individual who comes for help by providing them with a safe place to learn about recovery and acquire the tools for long term sobriety. It helps the family of the alcoholic by providing them with resources for their own care; education for the family, community, schools about alcoholism and treatment. In the South Bay/Harbor/Long Beach area we provide countless hours of volunteer work for other non-profit organizations. This is also our catch basin for most of our clients.

Why do you need my support?

Your donation does make a difference. Beacon House could not exist without the help of the individual donations we receive every year. At least 25% of our total income comes from contributions made by individuals especially those that live in our immediate community. We have made a difference in the lives of individuals, their families and the community by re-uniting families, making communities safer and returning men to normal, useful lives. Each man that comes to Beacon House and stays sober also saves the community money in terms of health care costs; criminal courts costs; loss of productivity and social services. Our vision is to provide the very best quality care and be the premier treatment program in the South Bay Area of Los Angeles County. We are well under way in realizing our vision. Our records indicate that of the men who complete our program 76% stay clean and sober one year later. This is a number that is not duplicated in any other program we know of.

How can I be sure that you will use my money wisely and won't waste it?

Beacon House is always open to people who are interested in visiting us and seeing first hand what we do here. We are a non-profit organization and our books are open to anyone who has questions. We encourage you to visit us and talk to our men, staff and Board of Directors. Our financial transactions are audited annually by a Certified Public Accountant and are available upon written request.

Can I Volunteer? How?

If you are interested in volunteering at Beacon House we ask that you call us and come to one of our regular scheduled House Tours. These tours are open to the community. Here you will learn about our programs, services, our goals and our vision for the future. You will hear from a member of our Board of Directors and from one of our residents. We end the session with a tour of the Beacon House. We will put you in contact with our Volunteer Coordinator at that time. We have limited volunteer opportunities but we can meet and discuss your ideas about what you would like to do also.
