Tri-Valley Haven

Creates homes safe from abuse by offering a domestic violence shelter for women and children, a rape crisis center, a homeless shelter for families and a food pantry.

How do you help people in my community?

We are located in the Livermore Valley, but we serve people from many areas of Alameda County, California and beyond. While our homeless, counseling and legal clinic clients come almost exclusively from the Tri-Valley area, our shelter clients often come from other communities in order to find safety from their batterers.

We also participate in partnerships and coalitions with other agencies to improve services to survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault wherever they may reside.

Why do you need my support?

Every gift is important to us. We depend on the community for almost 30% of our annual budget in order to maintain our high quality of services. Funds from government sources and private foundations are often designated to fund new programs for only one or two years; in order to continue successful programs after the implementation period, we need support from the communities we serve.

Our mission is not only to aid those who have experienced abuse, but, through education and outreach, to break the generational cycle of violence and build a world without violence.

How can I be sure that you will use my money wisely and won't waste it?

Tri-Valley Haven began 25 years ago as a network of dedicated volunteers who opened their own homes to battered women and their children and a crisis line based in a founder’s garage. We have expanded the agency by listening to the needs of the community and strategic planning. Our administrative and fundraising costs combined are only 21% of our total budget. Service is our first priority.

Can I Volunteer? How?

Volunteers are always needed both for direct client services and to assist with special events and fundraising, maintenance projects and clerical tasks. Contact our volunteer coordinator, Michael Ducey, at (925) 449-5845, or email him at michael@trivalleyhaven.org .
