Catholic Charities CYO

More than 30 programs serving all faiths in San Francisco, San Mateo and Marin Counties. Programs include family housing; support for immigrants; seniors and people with HIV/AIDS; counseling; childcare and youth athletics/camp.

How do you help people in my community?

Catholic Charities CYO:

• Offers rental assistance programs, which serve 1,807 individuals in 700 families (827 adults and 980 children) who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless.

• Provides quality childcare to more than 500 children from low income families in San Francisco and Marin Counties.

• Provides over 200,000 nights of housing for people living with HIV/AIDS this year and every year since 1995.

• Was a first responder to the AIDS epidemic in 1985, and continues to be one of the largest HIV/AIDS service providers on the West Coast.

• Serves 25% percent of the HIV/AIDS population in San Francisco.

• Provides counseling for 4,500 individuals for grief, substance abuse, marriage difficulties and parent-child conflicts.

• Provides summer camp and environmental education for young people from all over the Bay Area.

• Provides housing, healthcare and employment counseling to nearly 2,500 immigrants and refugees in San Francisco, San Mateo and Marin Counties.

Why do you need my support?

Catholic Charities CYO obtains approximately 65% of its annual operating budget through government funding sources. The remaining 35% is provided through fundraising in the local community. As government funding is compromised by state and federal budget cuts, donations from concerned and caring individuals take on more and more importance. The future of our organization and that of the 40,000 people we serve lies in the generosity of individuals in our community who share our vision to take action when others are suffering. We not only need your support, we rely on it.

How can I be sure that you will use my money wisely and won't waste it?

• 88% of every dollar donated goes directly into our programs.

• For three consecutive years, Catholic Charities CYO has received a 4-star “Exceptional” rating from Charity Navigator, which indicates that we exceed industry standards and outperform most charities in our cause.

• Catholic Charities CYO is the social services agency of the San Francisco Archdiocese, yet operates as an independent non-profit organization, and does not in any way contribute money to or receive money from the Catholic Church.

• Catholic Charities CYO is non-profit organization registered in the State of California under section 501(c)3 of the IRS code and our financial statements are audited and verified annually by an independent certified public accounting firm, RINA Accountancy Corporation.
